  1. I use tags as a way to remember my SEO keywords. I first put in the tags and then write the text. For that, it is helpful. But otherwise, I must agree. Title and description matter more. What would interest me is of you did testing on the audio – as in: does what you say rank you in search or is the algo not that good yet?

  2. I don’t think tags really matter, people want to watch videos people want to watch. You mention that a video has almost 10 million views and not a single tag, that says everything in itself, this is partially why I think TubeBuddy is a scam. I see channels use it all the time and their videos get no views.

  3. I tweaked the tags on a couple of my videos a few days ago and my channel has gotten more views since then. It does help and also they were keyword phrases which I'm sure helped a great deal

  4. Thank you so so much for this amazing video it help me alot… I opened a cooking channel, 2 weeks ago and added 4 videos.. One of them was the viral piñata cake… And guess what… It hit 1k in a day…

  5. Just starting out with my youtube channel in arabic language and I have been mixing two langauges (arabic and english in my titles) and I guess that is not going to help me out is it? Would be a wiser idea to have only arabic text on my titles? Im not getting much views and anyway my targer audience probably small..

  6. I just noticed that PewDiePie's channel has over a 100 million subscribers & the video you mentioned has only 3 Million views. Would you consider that a good enough engagement/reach for that video?

  7. Very helpful Gillian, I realised some of my videos were going to the wrong audience when I put the word Mature woman and the algorithm misinterpreted what my channel was offering. I suddenly got lots more views and subscribers but not the audience I hoped for. I changed as many titles I could to put this right.

  8. Thank you so much Gillian. I have only just found your videos recently. Your content is so wonderful and informative. I plan on watching and learning form you more and more. I will probably even binge watch some of your videos to get a better understanding on how to grow on YouTube. Thanks again Gillian.

  9. Very helpful thank you, I have been putting tags in my videos religiously thinking they made a difference. Now I will use that time on description, title and keywords. 👍😃

  10. With examples like the TMZ one, the majority of the traffic is going to come via TMZ's website and social accounts anyway, plus it was a viral video. Same thing with most people that have large audience off YouTube – they don't need to be discoverable on YouTube to get views. That doesn't mean tags don't work at all. Especially for things like secondary keywords vs. primary focus ones, I'm still seeing traffic from things only associated with my videos from tags. And for a small channel the difference makes a difference.
